Once you buy a magazine you might think that you have no other use for the print you just read, and you might throw it away. But there can be so many different uses that you might have never thought about doing. It is easy enough to say that anything can be done with a little bit of imagination and creativity.
*THE CLASSIC COLLAGE
Collages are fun for children of all ages, even teenagers. You can make a collage for any occasion. This is also a great craft for a toddler. You can ask them the find certain things in the magazine to put into the collage. If you use groups of the same object it will make it more exciting for them. A great educational way to use this is to ask them to cut out the letters of the alphabet and then find things that start with each letter. A stands for apple.
*HOMEMADE PUZZLES
A few magazines have whole page photos that you can use to make your own puzzle. The Martha Stewart magazine and Better Homes and Gardens are well known for having beautiful photos that you can use. First thing you need to do once you cut out the page is to paint the whole page with mod podge. Once that has dried you can then cut the photo into different pieces. Now you have your own puzzle.
*PAPER BEADS
Take your magazine and cut out long triangles. The more color that is in the page the better. You can also make the beads any size you like. Take your triangle and dip the whole piece into a bowl of glue. Then start at the widest end and roll in all the way to the tip. You should have a hole in the center of the roll to thread your string into.
*MAKE A CARD
If you have stock paper you can make a card. Occasions that include Birthdays, Christmas, or any other special holidays that you might have to buy a card for someone. Cut out matching items that coincide with your theme. You can even use a photo of the person who will receive this card, Maybe their head on a characters body. This can become a lot of fun.
*SCULPTURES
Using your imagination you can make sculptures of different objects. any animal can be fun to try to sculpt out of old magazines. Or try to make a vase full of paper flowers. you can use glue or mod podge to complete this project.
*NEWSPAPER
When I was little I used to cut out photos of a person, or a object ( like a boat or a car) and make my own newspaper. I would write an article on the photo. I would make up a story on the subject and have pages filled with fun dialogue. I would even make comic strips with my own words.
