A Prayer on the Eid al-Adha Day

”Allahu akbar! Allahu akbar!

Allahu akbar!”

Allah is Huge!

Allah is Mighty!

Allah,

is every beautiful thing

Look down, my Lord,

here come your followers

with the finest look

with the purest heart

Look at us, my Lord,

here is our sacrifice for this blessed day

with the blood shed, we refine our devotion

with the meat shared, we rebuild our compassion

Have mercy on us, my Lord,

for this is the least we can do to remember You

for this can't surpass all blessings from You

Within the modesty, my Lord

we gather and pray in the white sea of being

we cherish and celebrate the gift of living

Yes, my Lord

we thank you for the raindrop amid the slithering heat,

the sturdy greenery amid the frail concretes,

the warm hugs amid the rattling gunfire,

the sincere smile amid the cunning masks

“Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar

Laa ilaaha illallahu, Allahu akbar

Allahu akbar wa lillaahil hamd”
