When Most Haunted first started back in 2002 there was little in the way of "ghost-hunting" shows on TV. Because of the massive success of Most Haunted there are lots of these shows now. They have sprung up everywhere, with various psychics and paranormal experts, and different research and filming styles but always with the same claim; they want to prove the existence of paranormal activity.

I will be the first to admit that I am not a skeptic when it comes to paranormal activity and i have a firm belief in a spirit world, and so I watched Most Haunted for the first few series and even watched a few of the Most Haunted Live shows, they always gave me the heebie jeebies and there was always one or two things that really couldn't be explained scientifically, but this was all before the days of Derek Acorah being exposed as a fake. This certainly came as no surprise to many people, but a few die-hard fans still refuse to believe that his "possesions" and amazing talent of picking up information on the places that he visited was anything else but a gift.

Whether the show is 100% fake or not is a matter of debate, but whether it is a show that consists of a bunch of overacting screamers can not be. They are the biggest bunch of over-reactors that I have ever seen. The slightest sound, be it tapping, a breath or some inaudible scream sets them off shrieking,running and of course turning the camera on to themselves to capture these extreme reactions.

I am sure that if I was in a place that was almost pitch black, that I was told was haunted and I had a medium telling me that he was in contact with the spirits of people who had once roamed the halls and rooms that I was now travelling through, I would be so scared that I would be shaking like a leaf. If I heard a movement behind me or something falling from the ceiling in front of me I would more than likely scream myself hoarse, but the thing is I wouldn't put myself in that situation because I know that i would have these kind of reactions. I would not be in a position to say objectively whether there was any proof of the paranormal, and neither can the crew of Most Haunted because on every single show, live or not, they have these reactions.

The Most Haunted team was originally very small and quite close knit, which limited the amount of screaming that could be produced in any one episode. Now, especially in the live shows, we are treated to at least ten screaming banshees that make the
