I'M JUST WAITING

I'm just waiting for the time to pass.
I'm just waiting for my tears to dry.
I've heard time can heal all wounds.
I'm waiting for the time I won't have to cry.

Ah, the time goes by so slowly
And the wound has cut so deep.
The only time I'm released from torment
Is at night when I can sleep.

Sometimes that sweet sleep eludes me.
I watch the minutes ticking by.
I lie awake in bed and remember
How good things were before you died.

You were more than just my mother,
You were my dearest friend.
Like a poet said before me,
All good things must come to an end.

Though I know it's life's natural order
For death to overtake you first,
Sometimes I wish I had gone before you,
But I wouldn't want you to feel this hurt.

So I'm waiting for the wound to heal.
It will leave such a scar behind.
The day will come to begin life anew,
When to your loss I become resigned.

Till then I'm just waiting for the time to pass.
I'm no longer fighting the sadness I feel.
I have to face it and overcome it.
In the process I will heal.
