"Amanda! You’re going to miss the bus, child," her mother yelled to her from downstairs.
"I’m coming!" Mandy shouted back and hastily returned to her prayer. She was kneeling at the foot of her bed staring up at the plain, but highly polished wooden cross hanging on the wall between the two large windows where the gentle breeze made the pale pink lace curtains blow about restlessly.
"Dear God, let this be the day I convince Nick to come with me. I can feel it. He does want to learn about you but something is holding him back. A demon I’ll bet. He’s so hurt, God, so alone and he doesn’t feel loved. He needs someone to show him the way to you. Help me to help him, please,"she whispered urgently.

So, Amanda’s been staying after school and talking to them there, almost like another teen bible group. It’s much less threatening, you see, to talk about God if it’s at school or under a tree with snacks and soda present. You know how kids are," she said happily.
Reverend Campbell still looking stern digested this information for a minute. " That is a bit better, I suppose. I thought she might have been spending all that time with the silly, boy crazy Bower girl. She’s a terrible influence. I’ve told you since they were toddlers I didn’t think much of their being friendly."
Anna Belle just restrained from sighing wearily. "Sue-Helen is not silly nor boy crazy, Martin. She’s been dating the same boy
