So it is your wife’s/girlfriend’s birthday and you are at a total lost as to what to do. In fact, if you give her another bad gift, you suspect she will make you suffer for it. What do you do?

No worries, here are some ideas for you!

As a woman, here are some unique gifts I would love to receive:

1. A surprise picnic at a romantic place such as a lookout point, a park, or the beach.

Bring a mat, a blanket, and an old school picnic basket in it. In the basket, pack real cutlery, or at least expensive plastic ware, such as plates, drinking glasses, wine glasses, fork and knives and spoons. Add a few covered candle lights/candles for that romantic flickering warmth when you are at a scenic location. It is also worthwhile to bring a few pebbles if the place you are going to is very windy, this is to prevent the mat / blanket from flying up onto your face when you sit there is blissful contentment. J

2. Flowers, simply because they looked so beautiful.

Despite what most girls say about flowers, we do like them. No need for extravagant display of floral arrangements, worthy of a hotel lobby, but a simple gathering of the beautiful occurrences of nature for the woman you love.  

3. A surprise visit to the lingerie department!

Be it silky smooth sexy lingerie, cute bright colored cotton ones, lingerie might help! When a girl wears something beautiful inside, she can’t help but feel good about herself!

4. A foot massage, or a body massage

Especially after a hard day’s work, or a long day in high heels, a foot massage is a welcomed relief. If you both fancy a body massage, how about booking a couple’s spa session for a relaxing time together?

5. A gift box filled with new dress, shoes and jewelry, and explicit instructions on what time to be ready, and no further news on where we would be going. Caution: This one requires some intimate knowledge about her sizing, and you need to get it right! But done well, this is almost James Bond worthy!

6. A basket of her favorite fruits and wine

A fruit and wine pairing is ever appreciated for its simple luxury.

7. An ipod worth of love songs

So that she can listen to them whenever she is feeling down, and feel the presence of a thousand singers serenading her on your behalf!

8. A song dedication at an open bar

An old trick, but still a good one. Slip the singer a note on the way to the bathroom, and with a tip!

9. A notebook of handwritten quotes to cheer her up when I am feeling down.

This is the print version of the ipod of love songs, for your lady who prefers to read than listen. It is usually perceived as more everlasting, meaningful and touching though, because it should be written by hand with a good pen on a leather-bound high quality notebook, such as a Moleskine. Or, if you’re feeling generous, how about both the ipod worth of love songs as well as a notebook of handwritten love quotes?

10. A jewelry box for her to hold her jewelry, and with a piece of jewelry inside, is a romantic, thoughtful and practical gift, bound to make her heart leap!
