How can you stay away from credit card debt? There are some steps that you can take to avoid this crippling burden that affects so many lives in this country. Credit debt can affect anyone, and the consequences of getting yourself into too much debt can be overwhelming for some people. Credit is relatively easy to get despite the credit crunch, and so you still have to get yourself into the habit of avoiding debt.
So how do you avoid this debt? The best answer is to just never spend any money, but we all know that this is impossible. The best thing to do is to have a good idea of what you are spending, and how that money is going to be made so that you have it when it comes time to repay the creditor.
This means that you can't just spend money because you feel like it. You can't spend 1,000 dollars on a TV if you only make a couple hundred dollars a month. You can't just get three credit cards because you feel it triples your spending power. What it really does is just get you into the kind of debt that you hear about on those debt relief infomercials.
If you want something that you don't know you can afford, you have to just get back to basics and do some saving. This goes for just about everybody regardless of what your situation is. Saving money allows you to not only buy what you want, but it allows you to avoid debt on a daily basis. It is much easier to avoid debt if you have money and are not spending more than you have.
Another good idea to stay away from debt is to simply not buy anything on credit at all. Except for a car, your college education, and your home, you should not take out loans if at all possible. Everything else you should either be able to pay for or just not buy right now. It might be a little harder to live like that, but the frugal and responsible lifestyle definitely comes in handy during the down times.
So if you want to stay away from debt don't get yourself into debt. It might sound simple, but it is the truth of the matter. If you don't borrow money you won't owe money, and if you won't spend more than you make than you won't owe anybody money. That is how you avoid debt and not get yourself into a credit mess.
