A new generation hits the mortuary field

I have been given the same positive feedback. "Tattoos are just what people are doing these days. It's not something that can be helped, and most of the people making arrangements probably have tattoos too. As far as cloths go, who cares? As long as they are dressed professionally and not like a bum. Hair is hair, I don't care what it looks like so long as I'm not talking to someone with a Mohawk about making funeral arrangements." -Sam Wilson, age 36-

The general consensus from the people I talked to is that appearance is not an issue with potential customers of funeral services as long as it is professional. The trick is getting the old timers to understand and accept this fact. That, however, is not an easy task placed before this upcoming generation of funeral directors.
The issue of adding value and personalization to the funeral is going to be the easy part for this new creative generation. Just from talking to my class mates I already see that ideas for value and creative personalization are in motion. We know how to communicate beyond the walls of difference in opinion. All of us have individual talent in displaying ideas as well as condolence to a grieving family. We can add that "oomph" to a memorial service for cremation cases, and we can add the pizzazz to a "traditional" service for earthen burials. This new generation of funeral directors, and I say this with all confidence, has got what it takes to bring the funeral service up to date, and to offer families an experience that will make the pain of grieving lighter burden.
