Get Your Personal Contact Information Off Google

Google has a wide array of information on it's website, but did you know that Google also holds much of our personal contact information? You can do a people search on Google at anytime and find out at least 1 or 2 things about anyone you wish. This, to me, is a little bit scary knowing that there are millions of people each day surfing websites such as Google. I personally do not wish to have any of my information on Google, if I can help it. If you feel the same, here are some tips for getting your personal contact information off of Google easily and quickly so that you have no worries.

Step 1

Type http://www.google.com into your toolbox search bar. Google's home page will come up with a big blank search engine box. Underneath the box, you'll see two search links: Google search and I'm feeling lucky.

Step 2

In the blank Google search engine box, type your phone number, starting with the area code. Click the 'Google search' link box. The next page will bring you to your contact information right there on Google.

Step 3

Listed on this page will be your name, address, and telephone number. This is Google's phone book page where anyone who is listed in their city's phone book can be found (and even some unlisted numbers as well). Click on the 'phone book results' for your number.

Step 4

You'll come to a page that says 'residential phone book' and shows your name, phone number, and address listed across the page. Underneath this listing is a link stating 'request to have your name removed from this list'. Click on this link.

Step 5

Follow the directions for removing your personal contact information from Google. Enter your contact information exactly as it appears in the Google listing. Mark a reason for removal below the directions and click 'submit form'.

Step 6

You will be directed to a confirmation page of your removal from Google. It takes about 48 hours for Google to remove your personal contact information so give it time before checking the site again. After a few days, go back to Google and repeat step 1 to check that Google has removed your personal contact information successfully.

Step 7

You can do this for all members of your family and your friends.  Google keep contact information on just about anyone whether you're listed in the phone book, have a local or internet business, or use Facebook, MySpace, or any other social networking site.  Search Google to find out what other kinds of information the website has on you so that you can get rid of it too.
