Here's what happened in my neck of the woods Christmas 2005. I went to Jason's house on Christmas Eve, and left early from his Mamaw's Christmas to avoid icy roads. Shortly after midnight, a drunken fellow slid off the road in a big truck and landed in the frozen creek in front of Jason's house. Jason stayed up till 4:30 AM dealing with the injured drunk, the hour-late ambulance people, the police, the wrecker, etc.
Christmas Day: We sat down as a family and read the account of the birth o f Jesus Christ in Luke Ch. 2. Then we opened presents-we all got lots of wonderful presents! I didn't even bother asking for a tv, because I figured I wouldn't get one-but the whole family chipped in and bought me a 27 inch flat screen! Color me surprised! Jason and I went to my Granny's Christmas. Funny thing happened there, Granny handed out money envelopes to all the first cousins-so we could go out to eat (that's what the envelope said) but some were empty! "Granny, there's nothin' in it!" Some cousins weren't going to tell her, but one made the mistake of opening it in front of her.
Back home, we started watching "A Christmas Carol" around bedtime, and Mom and Nick fell asleep so we decided to cut it off. We finished it the next day. But meanwhile, Jason found out that his Mamaw (not the one we'd had Christmas with) was in the hospital for kidney failure. So we went to check on her. She was doing pretty good when we saw her.
And finally, the day after Christmas craze, I slept all morning-I was worn out from making all the Christmas presents and all the running around and eating. Holiday overdose!
