..THE REWARD AND BLESSINGS OF OBEDIENCE
Then came the word of the Lord to Jeremiah the prophet saying,"Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, will you not receive instructions to obey my word, the words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, which he commanded his sons not to drink wine are performed, for this day they drink none and obey their father's commandment. But although I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking, you did not obey me. I have also sent to you my servants, the prophets, rising up early and sending them saying..turn now everyone from his evil way, amend your doings and do not go after other gods to serve them, then you will dwell in the land which I have given you and your fathers.
"But you have not inclined your ear,nor obeyed me, Surely the sons of Jonadab, the son of Rechab have performed the commandment of their father, which he commanded them, but this people have not obeyed me"....Jeremiah 35 verses 12-16.
Here, God almighty commended the sons of Rechabites for passing the test of obedience.Similar test of obedience was given to Job in the book of Job.".Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord and Satan also came amongst them, and the Lord said to Satan, from when do you come?", so Satan answered the Lord and said, from Going to and fro from the earth. Then the Lord said to Satan, have you considered my servant Job,that there is none like him on earth,a blameless and upright man who fears God and shuns evil?
The sons of Rechabites won God's recommendations through their obedience to the words of their father, even in the face of tests from highly rated men of God and or other highly influential personalities in the society which they lived, they were not moved to deviate from the commandments of their father and God recommended and blessed them.." and Jeremiah the prophet said to the house of Rechabites thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, because you have obeyed the commandments of Jonadab and kept all his precepts and done according to all that he commanded you, therefore thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Jonadab the son of Rechab shall not lack a man to stand before me for ever.
The sons of Rechabites passed the tests that came to them just like Job did.Tests and temptations come to all people in life irrespective of their wealth or social status. They [tests] come to reveal the inner
