When Michael Vick was busted for dogfighting and running a dogfighting ring he pretty much put himself into a downward spiral that he might never be able to recover from. This comes from how even if he does do a great job in the NFL in the future it will be tough for many teams to be able to take him seriously.
The thing is that after being out of the game for two years Vick's skills have diminished. It could take a while if ever for the old Michael Vick to come back. This has helped to impact the amount of interest that many teams have in the guy.
However what could really be of a great concern deals with the controversy of having someone who worked with a dogfighting ring on one's team. The thing is that people love their pets. People spend billions of dollars on them every year. And even though many people love their pets no one truly loves their pets more like dog owners. People will do all sorts of things for their dogs whether it be bringing them onto airplanes with them, checking them into luxury grooming offices or even buying Snuggies for them.
With so many people loving their dogs more than other types of pets it can be obvious as to why some people will have a tough time with getting behind a team that has a man who has had a past of repetitive dog abuse. The actions of the past that Vick has taken part in will do nothing but harm his image.
In addition to this the negative image that Vick has is going to make it tough for sponsors to be able to go ahead with him. Some stores have refused to sell Vick's Philadelphia Eagles jersey. In fact Dick's Sporting Goods waited a few weeks to see what the response would to them before they sold them. With many sponsors not willing to stand by Vick many teams are not so sure about picking him up. After all, they will have fears that Vick's presence is going to end up costing the entire team sponsors.
These factors are all things that have put Michael Vick into the doghouse of the NFL. With Vick's past actions it will be very difficult for him to be able to get back to the top of the NFL like what he was at in the past. Even if he does get there again it can take years if ever for it to work.
