I have hated horror movies my entire life. I will never be that girl who wants to see a scary movie with her guy just to grab tight to his arm and pretend I am terrified. There ain't no pretending here folks. I didn't even like "E.T." when I was little. My parents wasted the child admission because my eyes were stuck in my dad's armpit. I remember at age 4 I had such a pit in my stomach. I even felt guilty that I made my parents buy me popcorn and soda and I didn't touch those either.
Once, before a night out with some guy friends I quietly tried to play it cool and allowed my friends to show Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses on DVD. This is as bad as making someone suffering from arachnophobia take a tarantula bath. I had to leave the pregame bar party early because I suffered from such stomach pain. Scary movies make me physically ill because I get so stressed out from wondering what predictable foolish thing the moronic victims will do next to maintain the game of the villain. "House of 1000 Corpses" left me so disturbed. Not only because the movie was so twisted but also because who are these friends I am hanging out with that enjoy this kindof mental mutilation in a movie? It should also be noted that I did not sleep for a week after viewing that freakshow of a flick.
Beyond "House of 1000 Corpses," I can remember how hard I laughed when I saw The Hangover. I had such a wonderful feeling after seeing the triumphant Slumdog Millionaire. I was thrilled from the action of Gone in 60 Seconds. These were some of my favorite movies of the comedies, drama, and action genres. I never regretted the $12 movie admission price for these movies. I paid money and left feeling great. I have however regretted spending the fare on The Blair Witch Project. Luckily, I saved my pennies and skipped Paranormal Activity. Why people? Tell me why I would want to spend my hard earned terribly small teacher salary to have a bad feeling? I loathe scary movies. I detest horror films. I cannot stand terrifying flicks. Anyway I say it, it is still clear, as God as my witness, I will not spend money for a bad feeling.
