THE CHRISTMAS PRESENT

An old man was searching through a garbage can.

He lives in an old deserted van.

Nights are cold and it's hard to stay warm to sleep.

The old man gets on his knees and weeps.

I'm cold and hungry and I need your help. he prayed.

I also need a place to stay.

Soon someone opened the van door.

A box of food was set on the van floor.

The old man looked out and saw a stranger standing there.

Thank you. He said For hearing my prayer.

Merry Christmas! The stranger said

As he handed him two warm blankets for his bed.

The stranger stood there alone.

He said Soon you will have a new home.

As the stranger started to walk away.

The old man said, For you tonight I will pray.

The stranger turned, smiled, and said goodnight.

The old man watched till he was out of sight.

He ate his meal and under two new warm blankets he fell asleep.

Remembering a promise he had to keep.

He prayed for the stranger, for the love he had shared.

He thanked God for sending someone who cared.

The police found him Christmas morning all alone.

A smile on his face, because he has his new home.
