Making money as a freelance writer is not always easy, but can (and will) be done if you are motivated and determined. I can tell you that when you first start freelance writing, you will not make a lot of money right away. This is where many people tend to get frustrated and quit before they even give freelance writing a chance. A good time frame to consider is around 2-3 months to really start to see any type of income coming in. If you can be patient and realize that you aren't going to be rich over night with freelance writing, the cash rewards you will receive are worth the wait. Many of us want to make money quickly and easily, but anything that earns you a real income will not come on like the luck of a lottery. Instead, you need to commit yourself up front to the work that is required to make money through freelance writing. Here are some tips to help you get started.

Make a list of things that interest you for freelance writing articles. The best way to get started in freelance writing is to know your niche. Understand what topics interest you so that you can make money a lot easier. When you write about things you enjoy, your chances of staying in freelance writing will be better and your articles will be more interesting. If you try and write about things that do not interest you, your writing will be less creative, more confusing, and make less money. Say, for instance, you are interested in gardening...the articles you write will be more educational, since you have knowledge about gardening, and more interesting since you have a passion for gardening subjects. More than likely, you have a few topics of interest so making a list of things that you enjoy will help you to know what you have the most knowledge about for better freelance writing.

In conjunction with step #1, it is also important to write about topics that you know others are interested in. This is where the real money lies in freelance writing. When people are interested in certain ideas, and you write about those ideas, they are more likely to read your articles. More visitors to your articles means more money for you. This is a bit tricky, however, because even though you want to write about topics that interest others, you still need to be knowledgeable about those topics, or you chance confusing readers and writing dull freelance articles. One of the best ways to figure out what people are interested in reading is to search sites such as Google.com and Yahoo.com. Take topics
