Have you ever been diagnosed with a life threatening disease? Did you take a moment to realize that your number was coming up? What did you think about? Did you think about how much money you could make before you die, buying a brand new car, or a new house? I don't believe that any normal person thinks about such things. I am a very healthy person, but have been with loved ones when they heard the illgotten news.
What I believe a person will miss most is the things that money cannot buy. Life, of course, is at the top of the list. It's no one's right to be born. Life is the greatest miracle of creation. Can you imagine the intricacies involved in making you? You are one of a kind and there has never been, and never will be, another you. It's unthinkable that some people would be willing to throw this special gift away, but they do. Be happy for life, it is free.
The beautiful world around us is taken for granted. How many times have you stopped to look around you? How miraculous it is to be warmed by the sun, a soft breeze on your face, or to feel the rain on your face. It's easy to instead think, the sun is so hot, the wind keeps blowing my hair in my face, or I hate the rain. Be happy for nature, it is free.
It really is hard to be miserable when you think of how lucky you really are. If you're married and have children, you must know how lucky you are. There are times when the frustrations of life can get you down, but how much more frustrating would it be without your family? Have you ever been mad at someone, and that someone becomes very sick or injured? The reason why you were mad becomes very minimal. It's amazing how things can be put into perspective. Be happy for your friends and family, they are free.
We live in a country that allows us to practice any religion that we want. In other countries, such a choice would be unthinkable and would likely result in your death. We don't know how lucky we are that we can go to church, pray, or thank God at any time we want. Be happy for religion, it is free.
Take a moment to look at the world around you. Every time you breathe, every time you open your eyes, every time you smell, and every time you smile. These are all free and more precious than any amount of gold that has ever been or ever will be found.
