Poetry: Sanity

by Courtney Shay

I saw a Girl, a Face in Dark
And Demons all around
Who piercing-piercing Body and Soul
Were causing her to Drown

And after they had gone away,
Depression still remained
And wrapping-wrapping 'round her Heart
It formed a solid Chain-

And then I saw her try to break-
The links that held her fast
And Hopelessness asked her to stop
And she gave in at last-

And I found Voice inside myself
To tell her she was fine
But reaching out-my hand struck Glass
Because her Face was mine
