With almost one billion cards sent each year, Valentine's Day is a holiday recognized worldwide as an official day to express your declaration of love for that special someone. And while the economy's turbulent roller coaster ride may have caused some hesitation on spending large amounts of money on gifts so close after Christmas, there is a special way to celebrate this holiday dedicated to love right at home - with a romantic dinner for two. Creating a romantic tablescape is crucial in setting the mood for this special evening, and these two ideas will inspire your creativity even more as you create a perfect atmosphere to celebrate your love for one another this Valentine's Day.

As you plan the menu for your Valentine's favorite meal, begin to gather items to create a romantic mood for the dining experience as well. If you have a small table, make plans to use that instead of a large dining room table for a more intimate setting. The following themes will inspire you to create a personalized special table setting for your Valentine.

Romantic Creamy Elegance:

Using a lace or cream-colored tablecloth will set the starting base for this elegant, romantic table setting. In honor of cupid who got you two together, use white feathers as your centerpiece base. Candles always set a romantic mood, so a grouping of votive candles or a pillar candle in a cream or white color to create a centerpiece will add to the ambience of the mood. To add a touch of color, use rose petals scattered on the table, or a small vase filled with a bouquet of roses. The symbolism of rose colors can express your thoughts without saying a word; red means love, a regular pink shade of rose symbolizes happiness, white symbolizes unity or purity, and yellow symbolizes friendship. Use these colors to communicate the meaning of the relationship to you.

Set the table with your best dishes, wine glasses with a lace ribbon tied around each base, and don't forget to place a little gift and card on your Valentine's plate. At the end of this article is instructions to create Valentine heart-shaped napkins that will be a beautiful finishing touch to place at both settings as well.

Bold Love Statement:

You love your Valentine and you want them to know it. Create a bold statement with this table setting to set the mood for love and romance. Red symbolizes love, so the main color theme of this table setting will be the traditional red. Use a small table if possible to create a more intimate setting. Choose
