As a man and someone who feels he knows a good deal about women, this debate is not even as issue. If presented with the metro or the cowboy, the women will always prefer the cowboy. The cowboy is the typical "manly man" who is not afraid to be a man, and yet has that romantic edge as well. He is the type of man who can wear jeans a nice shirt out on a date with his boots. This is in contrast to the metro, who will be just as worried about what he's wearing out tonight as the women getting ready is.
The simple fact is that the metro is the guy who women want to be friends with. Women all around today seem to love having the "gay friend" who will go shopping with them, tell them beauty tips, and gossip over chai lattes. Though the metro is not gay in his sexuality, he does profess that sort of image. The metro worries about every little detail of his hair and clothing before a date, and will not go out until he looks perfect. The problem with this is that it is the women's job to do this. Women love trying on all the dresses until they have one that looks perfect, and to fix their hair and makeup to look sexy for the guy waiting at the door. Why have the man take away from you by him totally metro-sexual?
The cowboy is classified as the ideal man. Women are always attracted to that sort of guy who just is confident in himself and will treat her with dignity and respect. This is not necessarily just the cowboy, either; think about what type of man women drool over when the new magazines come out? It is the one's with the man as either a cowboy or the new firefighter calendar.
As a fan of country music, I see this firsthand when watching any awards show or tuning into GAC on the television. Women love George Strait and Tim McGraw. There is something just absolutely manly about them. They wear the black cowboy hat, boots, jeans, and a nice shirt and just walk in with all the confidence in the world. In a sense, the cowboy is a lot more comfortable in just who he is than the metro-sexual, who must hide behind all that hair gel and expensive clothing. Women love the cowboy, and they certainly want him over the metro!
