Allison's friend is different.

She's had this friend for as long as she can remember, back when she was younger, well, younger than twelve. Her friend has gotten her through her parents divorce, through Rachel "The Bully" torment spree at school, and even many of her smaller problems, like when she can't remember where she put her favorite shoes. Why is Allison's friend different? She sounds like a great friend, and she is, but her friend lives in a special place. No, she's not imaginary, she's quite real, but she lives in a place, what Allison calls, The Corners.

Where is this place you may ask, well it's right here, closer to you than you know.

Allison's friend lives just between completely in full view and just a bit out of sight. I know this is confusing, but the best way to describe where she lives is this; You know when you have those moments you think you see someone out of the corner of your eye, or when think you heard someone talking to you, well, you did, and that's where Allison's friend lives. Told you she's not imaginary.

"How many times do I have to tell you she's got to have her homework done?!"

Hearing her mom screaming at her dad over the phone about her seems to be happening a lot lately. She sleepily slide out bed to get herself up and moving. For the most part, Allison has learned to make herself self-sufficient, not really needing to count on anyone to help her out, especially her parents. She shuffles to the bathroom to get start her morning routine.

"Good morning Shadow" Allison says, seeing her friend from the corner of her eye as she brushes her teeth in the mirror.

Allison has grown to call her that since she's seems to follow her everywhere she goes, and when she was little, that is what her parents told her she saw, when she asked. She doesn't turn and look for her anymore, years of training has taught her that she will only get the same result as always, Shadow not being there.

"Good morning Ally" Shadow answers back.

"Did you hear mom?" Allison asks.

"I did, your dad is asking if he can take you to the coast this weekend, but your mom says you have a project due." Shadow says. She is able to eavesdrop better than most, and has the uncanny ability to know what is about to happen before it does.

Allison's eyes grow big. Her project on a close friend is due Monday, which is only three days away. She totally forgot. That
