Poetry: Nocturnal serenade

by Nicole Limoges

Created on: December 04, 2009   Last Updated: August 13, 2010

Sound of Midnight

Sweet music of the night

Serenade my dreams

Lay upon my tired eyes

And comfort me to sleep

By the chirping of the crickets

Whose song floats on the breeze

Floating through the night air

And clacking the branches of the trees

A mist descends gracefully

Landing, oh so softly, on the grass

As a peaceful little whisper

From the lips of clouds that pass

Let me hear your lullaby

A most soothing thing

Woo me into slumber

With the melodies you sing
