He never speaks,
only kisses the princess
and whisks her away.
Prince Charming
charms in his silence.

Painted on smile, like a Ken doll,
Handsome and wordless is the prince.
Painted childlike princess
smiles Barbie smiles, for Prince Ken
as he whisks her away.

Prince Charming is only a figurine,
a mythical excuse off in the distance.
"Some day my prince will come."
Some day. Never today. Never, never.

Prince and Princess never speak.
Plastic illusions, no kingdoms to rule,
save those made from nothing,
gaudy as the Emperor's new clothes.

Prince Charming. A dangerous illusion
indeed. No man can be a prince.
No woman a princess. Not with the
gaudy nothingness of flimsy costumes.

Prince Charming. Prince Maya,
Maya: that dangerous illusion
that steals purpose and hope.
Prince Charming: a male siren
a rock to dash your ship against.

He has empty gorgeous eyes
and no personality. Prince Charming
never speaks. Just carries
the sleepy princess away.

Prince Charming. He has done me harm,
charmed me with his empty eyes
and the promise of empty kingdoms.
Prince Charming,
charming in his silence.
