Teachers Without Borders was founded in order to offer service to any area of the world, and to give resources teachers to help to strengthen the quality of education offered within any geographical location. No matter where in the world teachers are located, the help which is available to solve problems and to strengthen strategical planning is part and parcel of why Teachers Without Borders was formed. Knowledge shared increases possibilities, and the brainchild of Dr. Fred Mednick came about because there was a need for liaison between resources and the world teaching population of just under 600 million teachers.

The benefits to teachers of using these resources is that it offers services not otherwise provided which know no boundaries and not geographically biased. Teachers Without Boundaries understood that while Education is unevenly distributed in the world, intelligence is not.

It was indeed this knowledge which gave strength to the idea of sharing of educational tools and resources to help even the balance between countries, and to aid the teaching profession. The difference between local authority or government legislation for education and the work of Teachers Without Borders is that the latter take away the element of restriction and do not dictate the manner in which things are done. What they do is gather information and share it to the betterment of educational practice worldwide.

The quality of people's lives depends upon their education. Teachers Without Borders takes the human element and works as a collaboration to try and improve teacher approach, and to provide solutions which can be used even in emergency situations, or address culturally based problems with wider perspective.

It also provides an on-line network of teachers who are able to qualify by taking the Certificate of Teaching Mastery (CTM), a course designed to open up possibilities and approach by teachers to worldwide teaching practice, method and approach. Just as Medicins sans Frontiers works hand in hand with people all over the world who have medical needs, the Teachers Without Borders works quietly in the background to help worldwide teaching needs to be able to share resources and to find solutions.

The website of Teachers Without Borders offers teachers the opportunity to take courses which have been written by other educators and which cover such things as emergency teaching practices. Becoming a member of the site gives such a wealth of opportunity to teachers, both
