I find the idea that God would choose one sin to hate above all others appalling. When I was a child it was divorce, infidelity and alcoholism that was destroying the fabric of America. Now it's abortion and homosexuality. How about just sin people? When it began to be proved that alcoholism was a disease that had a genetic component, all the ministers raged against it saying that God surely wouldn't condemn someone who couldn't help their situation, yet it WAS proven that it was a disease. Now we are finding out that there may be real causes for homosexuality that are beyond the control of those individuals as well.
But, why homosexuality? They have always been with us, why now in the last few decades have they become abominations? Well to quote an old adage: If you ain't doing it it is pretty bad and the fewer people you know that do it the worse it gets. So here's my point. Lying is listed in both the Ten Commandments and the Seven Deadly Sins. (Called the Seven Abominations in King James English) Homosexuality is not listed. I did a check and would value anyone who wants to confirm or disprove it. I looked up every verse with the word homosexual in it and looked. Except for the first chapter of Romans, lying is in every verse with homosexuality. Which leads me to ask are we overrating Homosexuality or seriously underrating lying? If you say God really hates this sin are you also saying He doesn't mind these others so badly? As the bumper sticker says, "What part of Thou Shalt Not don't you get?" As the verse says "All have sinned and fallen short." Jesus never mentioned homosexuality. He spoke the most against the sin of judgementalism. He states that we will be judged (by Him in fact) in the exact same manner in which we judge others. I am opting for mercy myself.
I think we are like little children getting into trouble and pointing our fingers at others hoping our parents are stupid enough to forget we were bad, too. But God is not stupid, He knew where we would each be on this day and time and what we would be doing before He created the world. And He did it anyway. So point at others if you dare. Deceive yourself that God hates someone else more than you. But do understand that is what you are doing. When you stand on judgment day, you stand absolutely alone as if you were the only person that lived. He is not going to discuss anything but your own salvation with you. Why do you care so much about people who are in the same situation?
The beautiful John 3:16 so intrigued me that I had to see what John 3:17 said,"For God sent not His Son to condemn that world, but that the world through Him might be saved." (Remember the part where Jesus preached so hard against judging others?) So lets do a little logic.
God knew exactly what we would become and created the world, anyway.
God SO LOVED THE WORLD that He gave His Son
That we should be saved when He could have just judged us
Does God hate Homosexuals? NO
Or He hates us all.
ST Paul said that among all men he was the worst sinner. You don't hear that a lot these days. The really bad sinners are other people. If Jesus himself CHOSE not to judge us, who are WE? We are so seriously off point that I an afraid we will lose God's blessing. That is why I wrote. God Bless
