I believe two plus three equals five. I believe in the laws of gravity. I believe the sun is a source of energy and/or light. I believe that the rustling of the leaves and flailing of tree branches is caused by an unseen wind whose only proof of its existence is its effect. I believe the faster you drive, the faster you will arrive to your desired destination, assuming it's a straight line with no interruptions from point A to point a B.
It's dawned on me that the laws of nature, gravity, mathematics, and science (yes, I know there is some overlapping there) are not here to cater to our subjective beliefs. Two plus three is always going to be five no matter how many folks are going to try to make it six ,or B for that matter. Diving from 1,000 ft cliff is going to result in gravity doing its "thing", so you better have a big bean bag at the bottom waiting your arrival. A fractured right arm is not going to be able to lift the same amount of weight as a healthy left arm- you can try and chances are you'll just snap the rest of it off. This sounds ridiculous, but this is how millions of people think when it comes to spirituality.
Many will agree with everything I've just said, but will not agree there is one sound truth when it comes to spiritual well-being. Many agree that whatever spiritual belief you truly believe in is right and there are multiple ways to God. Has nobody stopped to consider that maybe, just maybe, the reason we keep killing and scheming each other is because we ignore the wind or try to make the sum of two and three six? For some of us, accepting a certain absolute spiritual truth would mean denying parts of us and our beliefs that we've professed to many with very determined and convincing dialogues, sometime going beyond dialogue. So, next time we're out with our friends, having drinks and being intellectual about our existence while discussing the incomparable stupidity of certain government officials or "religious" groups, we'll actually have to stand up and say, "Hey, you know what? Two plus three is really five and that's it! Either the Christians are wrong or we're wrong. Either there is an absolute moral law or not! There can only be one!"
There is a Creator. I'm sure there is a certain set of beliefs He would prefer we subscribe to. The good news is, truth has been established- it's a matter if we want to accept it. Truth is not going to change just because we don't believe it. God is not going to change His path for His children just because we're arrogant, self-centered individuals who refuse to deny ourselves and accept our destiny.
Two plus three is five and nothing is going to change that. Jesus was and is alive whether you believe it or not.
