Breakfast in bed: One more way to appreciate those you love

Breakfast in bed is a great way of telling someone that you know how hard they've been working and they deserve a break. It's a way of showing them that this is their day off and they can linger on in bed because other people who care are around to take care of everything that needs to be taken care of.

Making breakfast for someone is generally easier than putting together dinner, and it is something that even children can do for their parents. Also, showing someone a special gesture first thing in the morning is an act that goes a long way towards making their day brighter and more cheerful. It's not about the amount of effort you put in. You could just butter some toast and pour some milk over cereal. It's about the thought behind the gesture. The fact that you're telling them to relax, unwind, take it easy, and to leave you to do their worrying for them.

Giving the breakfast tray a fancy touch, like a small vase with a single flower (the recipient's favorite flower), a few small pastries, or a special food item that they especially like, makes the whole thing a little more special. A nice napkin in a napkin ring and special silverware add to the effect. Add the morning paper to it, prop up their pillows for them, draw the curtains apart to welcome the sunshine in and greet them with a cheerful "Good morning!"

They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It certainly is. Even so, a large number of people who have packed schedules and stressful jobs eat their breakfast in a hurry, barely even realizing what they are devouring. Couples with two jobs and/or kids hardly ever find time to have breakfast together during the week. More often than not, people will just walk into a coffee shop and order the first thing they see on the menu.

A nice breakfast tray on a weekend reminds the special person in your life to slow down, relax, and focus on the important things in their life, including their health and happiness. It is a way of telling them that they are special to you and that you appreciate everything they do for you, and want to do things for them. It's one of those little things that go a long way towards nurturing a relationship.
