Let's face it, although life without a car is stressful, a person who does not have a car is still saving money in the long run. Despite what type of car it is, a car is a luxury and not a necessity. You have to pay to register the car. You have to pay for the monthly insurance. Even if you don't have a car note to pay, you have the maintenance expense over your head. Anyone who has a car can tell you that something always happens to the car when you just don't have the extra funds to fix it! The average person puts $10-15 a day into their gas tanks, statistics show that in a better economy, people were filling up their tank 1-2 a week...not in this economy!
We didn't always have cars to transport us where we need to go. We survived just fine without them until we were spoiled by modern technology. Have you ever seen a picture of an obese caveman? Of course you haven't because in that era, modern technology was not around to spoil us lethargic! In today's world, especially with the economy in the shape it is in, people are always on the move. Everyone tried to pack their daily schedules with as much opportunity as they can. Having your own transportation surely feeds that determination more easily than public transportation does but at the same time, it is more peaceful to not sit in traffic, or drive in rough weather.
Everything in this world not only comes with a price tag, but it has its balance of pros and cons. Not having a car doesn't have to be so bad. You can carpool to work if you don't take public transportation. You could shop online instead of driving to the store, (which could also save you money in itself because online prices are always cheaper!) A person could even take it as far as to look at the not-so-obvious perks of not driving...you are home more. When a person has more time at home, they have the opportunity to build their base more efficiently.
We all fall victim of this from time to time, some more than others; we spend too much time utilizing our luxuries and not enough time building or maintaining our foundations. Our home is the starting domino. Some people do not fully understand the power of Feng Shui therefore they could not be utilizing it. Every decision, more so without a car should be made carefully and by considering the bigger picture at all times. The key to surviving without a car is to ensure that as much funds are available to you as possible, at all times, because you do not know what the future holds or when you will need to make it somewhere at the drop of a dime.
