Science and Religion are considered as enemies since very long time. The clash between science and religion is continued for centuries. But is this clash really a theological one or it is just the result of human mischief?
Are science and religion really enemies? I'll explore this subject according to my religion views. Being a Muslim, I think that any divide between revelation and rationality is illogical. If revelation isn't rational, it cannot be taken as a revelation. It is said that God works in mysterious ways, and yes He really does, because he has left no proof of any illogical revelation. It is the humans on earth, who take the meaning of revealed verses literally. For example, it is said that Jesus cured the blindness of blind people. Does this really means that he was actually able to give sight back to the blind? No, the ones who had no spiritual richness must be regarded as blind by the revelation and theses verses must have meant that Jesus was able to give them spiritual richness.
I personally think that science can be regarded as a worship of God. The activity of discovering the laws of God's creation and the functioning of God's creation will certainly make God happy. As the man discovers scientific laws of the universe, he also discovers the beauty of God's creation.
So I think science and religion aren't enemies, but they are made to appear as enemies by those clerics who have dishonest ambitions and those scientists who are too much proud of their discoveries.
Being a Muslim, I'll now show the reader the scientific aspect of revelation and how Quran hasn't got a single scientific error. For example the Quran says:
And it is We Who have constructed the heaven with might,
And it is We Who are steadily expanding it (Quran 51:47)
This Quranic verse proves the Hubble Law. Hubble Law of expanding space was discovered in 1929 by Edwin Hubble, but this Quranic Ayat which confirms this scientific discovery was revealed around 1400 years ago.
Quran says in Chapter 21, Verse number 42 .and We created everything out of water, this is another Quranic verse which approves a scientific law, this time the Miller experiment of the coming into existence of organic material.
These are just two examples, there are many other verses of the Holy Quran which approves several other scientific laws. So in no case, a person can say that wevelation is the enemy of science. But quite ironically, it is its greatest supporter.
Those who take some pieces of revelation particularly from the Bible over literally have no sense of religion. God just doesn't work in mysterious ways but he also talks to his creation in mysterious ways. No verse or revelation is meant to be taken literally, but most have a hidden metaphoric meaning. So the inhumane treatment of the great scientist Galileo by the church was not a service of God, but the disrespect of a servant of God, the one who was discovering his creation.
So any divide between Science and Religion or better said between Revelation and rationality has to be illogical.
