What it means to be a friend

Your best friend, in most cases, will always be your mother. Why? Because a mother always forgives her children no matter what they might have done, sooner or later.

The long term friend will always be there for you for the rest of your life. This type of friend does not require constant contact to feel reassured that you still care about them. They just know. They can and will forgive you for almost anything, and I truly believe admire or love you for who you really are.

The short term friendship, on the other hand, is one that comes into your life for a short time. If you do something that irritates them or do something that they think is wrong, they will drop you off of their "friend list" without a moment's hesitation.

Then, there are the in-betweeners. These are the type of friends that we mostly have throughout our lives. They come and they go, but many of them will always remain in our hearts and touch our lives. These friends are the ones that you try to keep in touch with on a regular basis for one reason or another depending on what is going on in our lives at the moment. These are the ones that we often talk to about our daily problems. The true friends in the "in-betweeners" will hold what you share with them in confidence. But, you must be wise in what you share with them for they won't be as forgiving as your long-term friends.

Pick and choose your friends wisely! Always keep in mind that those you hang out with will reflect on you.
