I would not say that it is a duty for children, but instead it's a way of support the you show to your parents by helping them financially. Parents may be a small seven letter word to many, but it means a lot more than this. Parents are there with their children through out the thick and thin and always stand by their side all there lives.
When you are young, they understand your unsaid words and without thinking even once fulfill all your demands, which may or may not be possible for all parents. It may not be necessary for parents to do everything that their child wants but still they make an effort to do so. They take care of us from childhood to the time we stand on our feet and settle down our own new family.
Til we feel that we are not ready to take care of ourselves, our parents are there to support us emotionally and financially and never expect anything in return. When we grow up and get jobs we leave them alone and occasionally go to meet them , we never realise that they develop an empty nest and start feeling lonely when we all are gone away.
They miss their children everyday and we get on with our own busy lives and families and just stop thinking about their needs. They never tell us what they want nor do we try to meet their needs. If they need anything we must make sure that we do that for them.
Without thinking even once we must help and support our parents financially because they have been doing the same for us all their lives and whatever we are today is because of them. We owe our lives to our parents who have done so much for us. Its important to respect them and support them financially as well as emotionally.
It's not that we are obliged to do that, but instead it's important to understand that we are there to be by their side as we have a bond with them since our birth. They have always taken care of us without thinking even once, so why should be be hesitant to do what they need. Helping them financially also leads to helping them emotionally and this way a family can always be connected.
As it is said; what we do our children learn, so if we do the best for our parents they will also inculcate these values in them. Therefore, this way whole family can stay connected to each other and a bond of love and affection can be maintained.
