Recent research suggests that although most people making a resolution are confident of their likely success in reaching their goals, only around 12% actually do achieve them. Those who do keep to their resolutions usually have a system or plan they try to follow and often this involves working towards small, reachable goals, rather than striving only towards the long-term objective.
Others who manage to reach their aims and in particular women, find that it is easier when they make their resolutions public and they get support from friends.
Another very accessible place to find support to help keep your New Year resolutions is the Internet. There are many on-line resources that will give tips, information and guidelines that might help you achieve your aims.
Acqyr.com, for instance gives facts and percentages about resolutions, asks whether New Year Resolutions work and then offers proven strategies on how to keep them.
At TeacherVision, can be found an exercise to help children think about what a resolution is, what they might choose as resolutions and further writing assignments that encourage them to think about their goals, promises made to themselves and personal improvement.
Mahalo.com offers a colourful and extensive list of ways to keep New Year's resolutions including seven ways to set goals, how to make a plan, enlist support and take action.
