Taking public transportation, despite the restrictions it may place on the route and the type of vehicle one takes does provide some personal advantages to its user. Taking public transportation can have positive effects on a person's health, wealth and overall well-being on the assumption that the system is running smoothly or with little or no hiccups.
When a person takes public transportation, he or she does not have to drive his or her own vehicle or only have to drive it for a part of the journey. In this way, he or she does not have to use as much fuel as he or she has to if she drives all the way to his or her destination. Less fuel use means less money is needed to refill the tank. Thus, money can be saved. Driving less can also have a positive contribution to the environment as less cars on the road means less carbon monoxide is being produced.
You may have faced the problem of looking for a parking space at least once in your lifetime. Instead of spending a lot of time searching for a spot to park their vehicles, some people have resorted to public transportation as the bus, train or tram can just drop them near their destination. Looking for a parking space can be quite stressful at times but with public transportation the stress may go away. Even if a parking spot if found, a person may not be able to park the entire day on it due to restrictions. But, with public transport, he or she can spend more time shopping as long as he or she does not leave after the last bus, train or tram.
Most of the time, people will have to walk from their drop off point to their actual destinations. For example, a train does not stop right in front of the store. Some people deliberately take public transportation so that they will have the opportunity to walk as a form of exercise to keep themselves fit and healthy. In fact, there are some places that encourage people to take public transport so that they will have the chance of walking for improve their health.
Taking public transportation may contribute positively to a person's social and romantic life. It is possible that a person may meet his or her future spouse of life partner in a bus, tram, or train. New friendship can also foster on public transportation.
A person can close his or her eyes and relax while taking public transportation especially if his or her final destination is at the end of the train line or a trusted someone can wake him or her up. However, he or she cannot do that when he or she driving his or her own vehicle. Therefore, some people take public transportation to take a break from driving.
