Working in a bar: The pros and cons of being a shot girl

A shot-girl is neither bar staff barman or barmaid, nor are they a bartender (Yes there is a difference.) Shot-girls are usually employed by a third party in relation to the bar club in which you work. The shot-girl has many pros to her job, and also many cons to those who are shot-girls and to those who want to be them to earn extra cash during college university.

Pros

The first pro about being a shooter-girl is the fact that you are getting to have a night out every time you are at work: I'm taking for granted that you love the club bar atmosphere which is why you applied for the job in the first place and basically every night you work that is what you are getting atmosphere.

You get to meet new people. Some of the people you meet are genuinely nice: the other half are quite opposite. However, if you enjoy meeting new people this could be the part time job for you.

Your also bound to get to know the bar staff in the various places you sell your shots this is useful to for widening your circle of friends.

The tips, considering you are good at selling, are genuinely rather good sometimes you can make your wage or more in tips: which brings me to my next point, for a freshly turned 18-year-old girl the money is decent: shot girls where I used to work rake in around 6-8 per hour.

From my point of view, as a bartender, the fact that you don't have any responsibility of looking after unruly customers and sweeping the bar down after close is a massive pro.

Cons

Yes, there are cons being a shooter-girl - you are going to be groped. There are a lot of men who will only buy from you after flirting with you for some time wasting your time (and potentially theirs). The usual punters will ask you to jump in photos with them; they will cuddle you, they will kiss you, they will probably squeeze your bottom - don't worry girls the door staff have your back.

Another minus side to this particular job is that, unless you enjoy it, the hours are potentially lethal ranging from anywhere between 8pm 5am

The shot-girl business is rather competitive, there are many other shot-girls brought in who may replace you. And although I'm sorry to say basically the better looking you are, the more shots you will sell - that's just the way it works.

Considering you can stay on your feet for lengthy hours, enjoy nights out, and enjoy 'a lot' of attention I certainly think that you will enjoy working on the punter's side of the bar.
