Paul is dead: Thoughts on the McCartney death hoax

by Adam Smithson

Created on: November 29, 2009

Conspiracies are fun and creative. My favourite conspiracy has to be the Sir Paul McCartney death hoax. I can't actually get my head around the fact that some people actually believe him to be deceased before I finally give you the reader, an opinion on what I think. In this piece of writing I am going to give to you the reasons for the assumptions: I am going to explain the clues left for us the fans, to pick up on. I am only going to mention the clues and hints that I feel are relevant: a lot of the clues out there are literally 'grasping at hairs'.

1966

It is an urban legend that after some dispute at the recording studio, Paul had stormed out, jumped in his car and drove off. He allegedly picked up a female hitch-hiker as he left the scene who started to realise who she had hitched a ride from. She attracted his attention, and distracted him from concentrating on the road thus resulting in a collision in which Paul's head was decapitated. The Beatles, fearing the result this would have on the band, found a look-a-like and replaced Paul.

Albums

In the album 'Help' by the Beatles, Paul was the only Beatle to be wearing a zip-up coat: This coat could possibly resemble a body-bag. Paul was also the only one of the four not to be wearing a hat this could resemble the fact that Paul sustained fatal head injuries from the alleged car crash.

Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band was possibly one of the greatest albums ever made of course that is my opinion. On the cover of this album the four Beatles stand in front of a bed of flowers assuming to be a funeral: On the grave rests a reeve in the shape of a four stringed, left handed bass guitar Paul's contribution to the Beatles; as well as Paul's old rugby trophy. The limp-looking doll in the corner of the picture bears a model car. Most famously the hand raised above Paul's head, in this picture and many others, is a symbol of death. (You will find that this symbol is found a lot throughout the Beatles artwork and photography.)

In the Magical Mystery Tour, Paul the walrus,is the only character in black. The walrus itself is also a Norse symbol of death.

The Abbey Road album shows the four Beatle's crossing the road. Paul McCartney is not wearing shoes and he is dressed in a full black suit traditionally corpses were buried this way. John is wearing a white suit assuming that he is looking the part fitting a preacher. Ringo has himself a nice mourners outfit. And slightly out of uniform George holds up the rear
