Poetry: The way I see you

by Christina Bernice Butler

Created on: November 29, 2009

When I look at you,

I see the eyes that would stare at me

Intrigued and intriguing me

I remember how things used to be

It's still the same and it still remains that

Every time I see you, I get happy

When I look at you, I see your fears

And if you tell me them,

Then,

I see the tears

That you were holding back

For years

I see your admiration of me,

Your desires and your dreams

I see your love

Strength, will, vulnerability

I see all of these and more

Every time I look at you

With your honesty, there aren't many secrets left

You're like an open book right there for me only to keep reading the rest

Starry nights and sunny days

Whenever I would see you, it made even the worse situations seem okay

It brightened up my day

To know that here was the one I love

And that you felt the same way

Wait

Don't close your eyes

I want to know

How you feel inside

Wait

Don't walk away

I don't want to go

I want to stay
