Poetry: Past, present & future

Who I was isn't who I am isn't who I am going to be

Even before the day I was born,

I've been a star

With all of the potential in the world

And no reason I wouldn't go far

Opportunities are laid before my very eyes

But, sometimes, because they're in a disguise,

They pass me by

I wake up

With the hopes of a young girl

Being a diamond in the rough - a pearl

A beam that's shining but standing still

Where is my present and future?

Of my past, I am healed

Soon, I will

Be different

But for now,

I am who I am right now

I'm not who I was

There's more to come

I'm not yet who I will be,

As far as I can see,

As far as I know

And, everything that's real to me

Tell me anything is a possibility

And I believe

That who I was isn't who I am isn't who I am going to be

There are great things in store for me

Created with a purpose,

Be all that you can be

The possibilities are endless

I'm not who I was

Who will I be?

Me!
