We all have goals that we desire to accomplish; some short term and others achievable only after a length of time. But like any other plan in life, goals too need to have a strategy or they will remain dreams, out of reach and unattainable.
It helps to share your goals with others who will spur you on, encourage you or even tell you ways to make your goal more achievable. Some people have a close circle of family and friends to help do this and others do it via a blog or a website. People use the internet as an interactive diary that they share with thousands across the world. In the process, they make friends, share life experiences and learn from others. Sharing life goals with others might not be everyone's cup of tea but many take this option and tell people how they are taking steps to lose weight, doing charitable work, starting a new hobby or studying for a new qualification. Getting favorable comments from people who read your web page or blog makes it a unique experience especially for those who do not have close family or friends to spur them on or share things with them on a daily basis.
Once on paper, do not forget to read your goals and review them often. This will be like a daily reminder of what you hope to do within a certain time if you have given yourself a time limit. Now add photographs, pictures from magazines or articles that seem inspirational to you or are relevant to your goal. Tips from people who have achieved their dreams are also positive and inspirational and push into you the desire to do what seems impossible. It is breaking the barriers that are often self imposed and reaching out for what is quite attainable. Use positive quotations and sayings and read them often during the day to psyche you into an optimistic and self confident frame of mind.
Indicate next to your goals how you intend to achieve them. Write each goal on a separate page and draw into it the things you need to do to make it possible. Now draw out of what you hope to achieve and how it will change your life for the better. Add into this as many notes and reminders as you want to interact with it and make it almost alive. The more you focus on it the more certain it will become in your life and the more the chances of making it happen. You can work around your goal while you carry on with normal life, but spend a part of your daily time in pursuing your dream.
Cut out negative feelings you bring up as they are self imposed and will stop you moving forward. Cross them out and replace with more positive and motivational thoughts and expressions. It is re-educating your mind to believe in yourself and your abilities to do whatever you want. It is also worth remembering that most people have goals that are realistic and which can be achieved with some extra effort and time. A goal like hoping to climb Mount Everest will require a very special person who will have to train both body and mind to its utmost limits to achieve it. This too can be done and there are people amongst us who have done it and have lived to tell the tale.
Going for meetings or talks can introduce you to other people who have similar goals to you. Through group interaction you can find others to share and achieve your goals with. Using motivational CDs and DVDs is another way of focusing the mind into achieving the impossible. The main thing is not to be distracted but believe in what you want to do and when you start to believe in yourself so will others around you.
Remember that 'a dream becomes a goal when action is taken toward its achievement...'. Bo Bennett
