Perfume reviews: Britney Spears' Midnight Fantasy

Created on: November 28, 2009   Last Updated: December 01, 2009

Midnight Fantasy was launched in December 2006 and is the second spin-off to the original Fantasy by Britney Spears. This enticing, floral fruity fragrance will introduce you to a mysterious realm of temptation and intrigue through its seductive gourmand notes. Its delicious sweetness oozes femininity and sensuality, captivating the senses and creating an aura of mysteriousness. The nose behind this fragrance is Caroline Sabas that has created a few other celebrity fragrances which also had great success.

Midnight Fantasy comes in a dark blue, translucent bottle with tiny rhinestones that create a subtle starry night effect. The bottle has the same unique shape as the original Fantasy fragrance, which is currently a very distinctive design on the perfume market. The outer packaging is stunningly colorful, featuring pink, purple and black elements that come together in an abstract blend that is reminiscent of a forest at night. The bright, sparkly dots on the packaging also contribute to the same starry night impression created on the bottle.

The product is available as 30, 50 and 100 ml EDP, accompanied by a 100 ml body lotion and a lip gloss. It can also be purchased as a gift set. There is no shower gel, and the body lotion can sometimes be difficult to find.

The fragrance is strong and very sweet, diffusing a mixture of luscious fruit scents. The top notes are framboise, black cherry, and plum, the middle notes are night orchid, freesia and iris, while the base notes are dark amber, musk and vanilla. The powerful blend of fruity and floral accords is very seductive and magnetic. A strong blueberry note seems to dominate the overall impression of this fragrance. The lasting power is unexpectedly good: this fragrance can last the whole day without needing to reapply (though this may vary from person to person).

Midnight Fantasy is more suitable for evening wear and special occasions, since it is very distinctive and sends an intense, alluring vibe. It is more appropriate for winter, as its characteristic sweetness can be too overpowering for the hot summer days. Though the fruity floral family is usually favored by youngsters, this fragrance can be worn by any self-confident woman who likes sweet, gourmand fragrances.

Overall, Midnight Fantasy is an unsophisticated, but exciting fragrance that relies on a delightful blend of floral fruity notes to create a mysterious and sensual impression. As the tagline boldly states: Magic Begins at Midnight!
