Building your muscle helps you burn fat faster. It's important to get enough protein to support your muscle tone. You don't have to look like a body builder to have good muscle tone in your body.
Start by keeping a daily diary of how much you eat. It's too easy to forget about that candy bar you ate from the vending machine. A hundred calories here a hundred calories there and you are over your limit for the day. You should know how many calories you need to consume and stick to it.
If you are an emotional eater then you should have a network of friends to rely on. Instead of heading for the fridge head for the telephone. Talk it out and keep your mouth busy talking instead of cramming it full of ice cream and chips. Make a conscious decision to eat or not to eat. Knowing if you are really hungry or just eating to fill a void will help you keep the fat off.
Plan your day in advance. Don't just plan what you'll eat but plan what you'll do. If you need to exercise make a list, set it into a time slot and stick to it. If you'll be attending a party that will have food then remember to eat consciously and keep track of what you eat.
If you are working out on a regular basis but not seeing any results you might just need to change up your work out. If you don't use weights consider adding them to your routine three days a week. You might need to rev up your work out. Maybe you aren't challenging yourself enough, so speed up walk or climb some stairs.
Be sure that you eat enough calories to keep you going. You don't want to cut yourself short and end up with no energy. Also get plenty of sleep since sleep helps to restore our bodies as we rest. Eat a good healthy breakfast when you wake up and start your day out right.
The latest greatest fad isn't going to give you the fast results that come over time. There are plenty of diet pills and weight loss programs on the market. Getting liposuction is not the answer either. If you don't change your habits you'll soon see the old you in the mirror. The best way to lose weight and keep it off is by changing habits and working at it.
