I still see you sometimes
Your Mets jersey tinted pink
From red underwear in white wash
Your baseball hat brim masking your eyes
Mischievous and full of life
It was just a toy, a plastic globe of white

See you on the mound
Your tow-headed innocence so deceptive
Each pitch an unsolvable riddle
Popping, snapping, whispering whispering
A silent thank you
For a friendship such as this

I
