The best things in life are indeed free.
Of all of these, life takes first place. For without life, nothing else can follow. Next to life is our ability to think. For without thinking, we cannot device ways to protect ourselves from the weather elements, nor from the dangers posed by wild animals, earthquakes, tornadoes, fire and other life-threatening forces in life. Nor, could we have invented such creature comforts as clothing, shelter, transportation, and the other myriad creature comforts available to us.
Next, comes health, its priceless value requires no explanation. After health comes family and friends. For without family and friends life on earth would be a scary, lonely place to live in. And what of the importance of feelings and emotions - were it not for these we would be as robots living mechanical lives devoid of any human element. And, of course, life would not be what it is without the element of free will, that innate ability to decide and choose for ourselves the course of our lives and every experience along the way.
Next, comes mental awareness. For without mental awareness, our ability to behold the beauty and majesty around us would be lacking and life would not be as visually pleasant as we know it. Mental awareness is closely followed by our five senses of sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch. We cannot even begin to imagine living in a world where we cannot see our surroundings, or eat food that we can neither smell nor taste?. And imagine being in a world with no sense of touch. Imagining this, we quickly realize the priceless value of our senses and the crucial role they play in our daily lives.
Next, comes the planet we live on, Earth. For without such a planet, there would be no place for life to unfold as we know it. After earth, comes oxygen. For without oxygen, we could neither breath nor sustain life on earth. Closely behind Earth and oxygen comes the Sun, provider of warmth, light, and physical comfort during the day. And of course the Moon, designed to light our nights with the beauty of its diffused silvery light. And, let's not forget the countless stars hanging in the sky, which in unison augment the magical glow of the Moon. Together, moon and stars create the beauty and allure of the night.
Following closely behind is the ground, which makes up the surface of our planet. This surface, perfectly designed to grow the crops that end on our kitchen tables, equally provides the nutrition required to sustain human life on earth - as well as all the organic elements from which everything created by the human mind is produced. Without this ground, life could not be what it is today. After the ground below our feet, comes the animal kingdom, providing all the animals on earth - domestic and wild - not only to behold their beauty but also to put food on our tables.
Finally, come the seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter, four vastly different seasons which give life the variety and hue that we cannot imagine living without. It is this variety in weather which, in great part, makes planet Earth what it is: a beautiful place to live in.
All of them, mysteriously provided at no cost to us. All of them a birthright to the human race. All of them for the enjoyment by every woman, man, and child alive. All of them for us to behold, enjoy, and admire. And all of them to make us wonder, "Where did they come from?"
To the mysterious power which created all of them, with heart-felt gratitude I say: "Thank you."
