Art is a calming balm for those too attuned to the pains of the world. A euphoric escape from dread. A dread meeting with reality. Art is a prison cell with the door sprung wide and the key lying upon empty cots. Art is the aphrodisiac searched for, found and almost effective. Art is wine which has a delicate aroma and a painful bite.
Art is the coloring book that you miss so much. A wonderful defeat for the deserving enemy of melancholy. Art is the face of a child in a mirror wearing the smile they so easily create. The great silly. The marks upon the paper are art that very few recognize; but which also return later with an explanation of who had been there then. Art is the frustration which comes when there is no one there to give solace and renew hope. Art is the victorious arrival of that new day when something at last forms, and the guide past confusion is found. Art is that day when the steps of the school are no longer easy to climb. Art is the love of the parent and of the child. Art is the missing.
Art is the strength which is needed as we grow. The path of success cannot be followed without success. Art is the small amount of food upon the table; where before, there was no food. Every tear, every laugh, every thought. The hopes of returning someday to the ones we love and hold so dear. Celebrations for a strike against despair are very sweet indeed. Art is a reminder. Art is a still picture where life remains as life once was seen. Memories. Bittersweet.
Art is the lone link between great friends of whom volumes should have been written. The defining thought of being. The weeping of joy where sadness once reigned. The weeping of sadness where joy once reigned. Go back and find the art, and you will find what is the art. Art is the comfort of having where there once was nothing. Art is the thrill of self-love. Art is your own pat on the back. Art is a guide which tells you where you should not have been; and where you should be. Underestimation of power limits understanding. Art is understanding. Art is love when nothing else exists at all. May you find art in all that you do.
