Writers who are entrepreneurs can use their own writing skills to sell products and services, or make a living by marketing and promoting their own work. Without making a business out of writing, it would not be possible for some writers to sell their books and articles, or to find paid writing jobs. Many writers are Internet entrepreneurs, using websites and blogs for marketing and selling online.
* Online marketing and sales.
Writers have an advantage in being able to write effective marketing articles to promote their writing services. Writers increase sales of their own e-books or printed books by writing on related topics, and earn sales commission by reviewing affiliate products.
Writers with websites and blogs can post reviews of their own work, and any web content can be used to provide live links to specific book titles at Amazon or any online bookstore. Links can lead visitors from blog posts to sales pages for e-books, available for purchase with instant download.
* Online article writing.
Writing articles is a business in itself. Articles can be sold as website content, or used to earn passive income from ads. Article writers can receive upfront payments at some writing sites.
Writing new online articles every day should generate a good monthly income in upfront payments and ad revenue. Some paid writing sites offer a set payment pay per thousand page views, other sites share ad revenue with writers, or allow writers to use their own Adsense account.
Marketing and promotion is an important part of earning money from article writing, in addition to search engine optimization. Links back to articles from blog posts, social sites and networking will generate more money from page views or ad revenue.
* Regular online writing gigs.
Busy freelance writers set their own fees and send out letters or online applications to prospective clients. Some writers specialize in copywriting, ghostwriting, writing business reports or articles on specific topics. Webmasters and business clients pay freelance writers for regular blog posts, or for SEO content to publish on their websites. Some publishers require series of informational articles for use in newsletters, or to appear in e-book guides, online courses and instructional manuals.
Clients generally pay for full publishing rights of any content they purchase, but at some writing sites publishers purchase non-exclusive rights to reproduce articles. This means writers can publish the same articles at several sites, or sell them to several different publishers, provided none of them requires exclusive rights.
These are just a few of the opportunities open to writers who are Internet entrepreneurs. Writers who work freelance for business clients and print publishers benefit from the entrepreneurial spirit too. Successful writers are entrepreneurs who find regular writing work, and other ways to increase their profits from writing.
