The moonlight is shining, her smile is bright;
The rushed day has calmed down, become the night,
The light on the water, now soothes my soul,
Her hand to my heart makes my body whole.
As we lay on the grass, and look at the stars,
We enter a dream where the future is far,
The sun is rising, the breaking of night,
Reflecting so beautifully, her skin ivory white;
Her hair shining golden, the beautiful strands,
As we stand on the shoreline, barefoot in the sand,
The tide rushes in, the water's still cold,
I give her my hand, so that she may hold
On to me now, as the sun rises bright,
From the dark to the dawn, there's always a light,
As our dream ends, together we gaze,
At each other's eyes, through the white haze,
That our breaths create, as we try not to breathe fast,
As if breathing slower will make the moment last....
We stare at the moonlight, then our gazes meet,
Both wishing the sand was back under our feet,
Both praying the sun will take a day off,
This night lasts forever, as we lay near the loft;
We gaze at the moonlight, until the sun's light,
Asking why must God end such a beautiful night.
