There is no better time to get up and get fit than the holiday season. I know, I know...it's such a busy time of year. There are gatherings to attend, parties to prepare for, shopping for all of the gifts, decorating the house, and other things that take your time and your energy. Don't let that stop you, though. There are many reasons for this and some of the most motivating ones are listed below.
*Energize yourself
Although it may seem like getting moving, rather than sitting down for a rest, would only tire you more, just the opposite is true! As you get moving, your brain will release endorphins, those happy hormones that give you energy and bring your spirits up. Passing up the power nap and opting for a power walk will be far more beneficial to your energy level.
*Jumpstart your New Years Resolutions
It is almost a guarantee that if you make resolutions for the new year, one of them will have to do with your level of health and fitness. Why not start now and develop a habit that will increase your odds of fulfilling the resolution?
*Impress family and friends
The holidays are filled with social engagements where you will be seeing family and friends, often people that you rarely see other times of the year. We all want to look our best at these parties and celebrations and getting fit is one of the greatest ways to do so. You won't have to search desperately for something to wear that will cover the areas you are self-conscious about, because you will be proud to show off those areas that you have toned and shaped.
*Even out all that food
The holidays are accompanied by more food, and probably more fattening food, than most of us consume at other times of the year. Because of this, it is easy to put on a few extra pounds if you aren't adding some extra exercise to weigh out that extra food. By getting fit during this time of year, you can avoid that extra fat and possibly even shed a few pounds along the way.
The holiday season really is a good time to get moving and increase your fitness level. There are few things that will feel as good as presenting a well-toned and shaped body to your friends and family. That is to say nothing of the health benefits, either.
