Motorola paired up with Google to create the latest Smartphone, the Motorola Droid that is finally going to give the Apple iPhone a run for its money. The Droid uses the newly introduced Google Android 2.0 Operating system (OS) to unleash what many believe to be the only phone that can content with the Apple phone that has most recently dominated the market.

The phone features a sleek palm sized slide design which when opened revealed a tightly organized full Qwerty keyboard in addition to a touch screen keyboard feature as opposed to the iPhone's lone touch screen keypad option. It also features a bigger screen (3.7in/480 x 845) than the iPhone (3.5in /480 x 320) that is capable of several screen settings such as normal for basic functions, cinematic for viewing movies, and another for doing web applications such as email or browsing the web.

One of the biggest things this phone boasts is the seemingly endless customization capabilities it has which is a big part of the marketing Verizon has focused on. The phone has released over 10,000 "simultaneous" pay and free apps available through Android Marketplace including Amazon Mp3 Downloader and many Google apps such as Maps, and Turn by Turn, Gmail, and IM (all free to use) and the phone can run as many as six apps at a time. The 3G phone runs like a dream using Internet, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technologies to access most any application your heart desires. It's also possible to catch real time sports scores, news broadcasts, stock market updates, and even Facebook and Instant Messengers updates all across a notification bar that will not bother you when you are not interested.

The audio and video capabilities feature DVD quality capture and playback with a 5-Megapixel camera, dual-LED flash, numerous scene modes, color effects, and white balance control for photography. This is a vast improvement on the 3.2-Megapixel version offered by iPhone. One accessory being offered is a "multi-media dock" that allows you to dock the camera on your windshield to watch a movie, use the navigation software, or listen to music. As far as audio is concerned the Droid offers a 3.5 mm jack for headphones and stereo Bluetooth. This phone also comes with basic software to play unprotected mp3's that you can download from the free apps available. Android offers the voice recognition software, Google Search by Voice which allows you to search through Google by simply saying what you are looking for such as maps, businesses, and more
