I believe firmly, that the school year should be lengthened. Through some research, I've found that 70% of the schools in the United States is at a failing status. In letter grade, United States is at a F-. Don't we need to do something about it? President Obamahas seen disaster coming and proposed a bill that I believe is reasonable. The 180 day school year-round calender that he proposed doesn't even match Japan's 220 day calendar, and they have longer school days too! Even Harvard's having trouble keeping up with them. We are continuously falling apart as a country and need to do something about it. United States as recently borrowed billions of dollars to help the people of America. Every person has a debt to pay the country back for helping them. How can kids do that if they don't have a good education?

There are lots of reasons that the kids are doing bad in school. First of all, we are one of the fattest nations in the world. The weight gets us moodier while we are learning and we get "dumber". Many teachers complain about too little time in school (the ones that care about the kids anyways). Why is that so? Socially, people need time to get to know each other. Scientificly, they need more time to do experiments. Language practice is needed for special Ed and new immigrants from other countries. History should be well known throughout the U.S. As one of the fattest nations in the world, we seriously need some Physical Education. For every single subject, I believe we would need more than 20 minutes extra for each period. With 77% of the high school people not being able to graduate, and D- as a passing grade, I believe that we need to break such traditions and become truly serious.

Many people think about the costs of extra school time and the work that is needed to put on the process. Why do they say that? Most likely, they are afraid of taxes and are lazy. This isn't going to affect the taxes much and people who are lazy can get their lazy bottoms back to work. This is going to be paid by the government with money they borrowed from China. Why do you think that they borrowed billions of dollars? Now, as a person, I say that we should stop being such an argumentative country about change and let us switch from original farm calenders. In an educated and civilized country, one can prosper, but in an uneducated country, many resort to violence. Heed my warning and let us make this land a better place to live.
