Coming into the kitchen, you happen to glance at the calendar on the wall. And you happen to notice that someone has highlighted a certain date for the month. A large smiley face has been drawn over the date. Did you forget your anniversary?
Being aware of your spousal duties is one of the best ways to let your other half know they are appreciated. It should be remembered, also, that warmth should come with the execution of these duties. Simply remembering an anniversary or birthday, and going through the motions of buying flowers, cards and gifts is meaningless without feeling. Careful thought about someone on a regular basis will allow you to explore the depth of your feelings about that particular person. From this, the consideration of that person will be defined in a more clear and concise way, allowing a constant caring attitude to be shown with ease.
Communication should never be neglected, either. However, the small and/or unexpected surprises are the ones which actually solidify any serious relationship. Rhetoric can never replace true feeling, and words alone are not enough to satisfy the questions inherent in these relationships. It takes action to overcome the doubt which can accompany almost any relationship over a lengthy period of time. A simple touch on the hand and a smile are usually the type of thing someone will remember far longer than great accomplishments or outlandish expenditures of money. And they are usually the most effective for the reassurance of a loved one.
Another aspect of a serious relationship, which can also have roots in doubt, is the pervading idea that a person is boring. Suppositions such as these can be highly detrimental to the confidence of someone who may think of themselves as uninteresting. Noticing the interesting things that someone says, does or participates in is one of the best ways to keep the blossom in your relations with a spouse or significant other.
Disconcerting feelings of inadequacy or a lack of intelligence can also wreak havoc, especially if the relationship has been showing weakness in recent days, weeks or perhaps months. Positive interaction and reassurance in these areas will no doubt have an effect for the betterment of any negativity which may exist in these cases. Even the way a simple word is said to another person can show how supportive or antagonistic the other actually is, and this is especially true in regards to the consideration of intelligence or adequacy.
Taking care of, and watching out for, your spouse on a regular basis is absolutely essential for a successful and lasting relationship. The warmth, love and trust that are implemented daily are the best ways to reinforce the fact that you do appreciate the one to which you are devoting your time in life.
