If you haven't been born with a silver spoon in your mouth, chances are, you'll spend a good chunk of your life, if not a lifetime trying to acquire financial independence or wealth. It's the American dream, and as many say, money makes the world go round. I wish I could disagree and say that I care nothing of being financially independent or wealthy, but like the average American, too much of what I want and need all costs a lot of shiny, little pennies. Sure, I understand that money can't buy me love, or the more important things in life that keep me happy. But money is, without a doubt, one of the most valuable resources we have. So, how do we acquire money to the point of financial independence. Well, I will tell you this right out, it isn't easy, not for any average person, it isn't.
Tap into who you are and what you've got
Every individual has their own set of strengths and weaknesses, and at times, it is not clear where they lie. But the investment of recognizing your strengths and weaknesses will more than pay off. Tap into what you're good at and do something with it. Find your niche. Don't let others dictate who you are or who you will be. Listen to that small voice inside of you that no one else can hear, and then take action.
Utilize the library
Upon view of yourself, and potential strengths, you will need an outlet, a way to apply what's inside of you before you turn it into gold. You may not know where to start or how to apply your strengths. At a time like this, a library can act as a treasure trove. You'll want to search for books on all kinds of subjects that are related to your strengths and what you think you might want to do. To make the search much easier, it helps to find your local library site on line and request books ahead of time. Most libraries will contact you once your books are available for pick up. You may also want to simultaneously go to both, the book section of Amazon.com and your local library's website to perform cross checks of certain books. Amazon.com offers a better way than that of a library's website, to locate the type of book you're looking for. And if you have previously purchased a book from Amazon.com then you will be presented with the look inside option which lets you view actual pages of a book, and proves extremely useful in finding an exact match to your specific preferences. When you find a book on Amazon, cross check to see if the library carries it.
