Student life at the University of West Georgia

I am currently a student at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, Georiga. It is a pretty campus with a variety of academic fields to study in and plenty of student organizations to get involved in. One of the more recent but important additions to student life on campus is the newly-built Greek Village.

The Village is a complex of various houses where multiple fraternities and sororities live. Each fraternity and sorority has their own building in which members coexist. The village has helped build a tighter bond among the students of the university. Another addition this year that has deeply contributed to the student life on campus is the new football stadium. Opened for the 2009 football season, it is a state-of-the-art stadium.

Despite the losing season of the wolves, they can take pride in playing in a wonderful stadium. There are also multiple clubs on campus. The American Chemical Society meets weekly to discuss events and to host special guests to talk about careers in Chemistry and discuss potential activities. The Kathy Kashen Hall in the humanities building on campus hosts several concerts from talented music majors.

The campus is home to a variety of departmental and academic clubs, ranging from the political science club to the sociology club to the mass communication society club. The school is also home to many honorary greek organizations. Alpha Lambda Delta is an organization open to students that have a 3.5 GPA and who are in the top 20% of their class at the end of their first year of college.

Alpha Psi Omega is an organization meant to expand the knowledge of theater and to help students become better team players and individuals. Since the school is host to a wide variety of students from varying ethnic backgrounds, a lot of cultural clubs are present as well. For example, the Latino Cultural Society is an organization meant to participate in community service activities and to embrace Latin American culture and heritage. The school newspaper is made up of a team of individuals that compile photos, write stories, and submit works of art to keep the univerisity's students informed about the various events on and off campus.

The University of West Georgia is a growing university with a variety of activities for students to participate in. The university hosts these activities and events so that the students may have a life outside of their academics, and so that they may bond with other people.
